A Little Flavor
By the way, I have seen car dealerships, or as they say out here in Newport Beach, motorcar dealerships for Aston Martin, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari and a couple of other really exclusive automobiles. I have yet to see a Ford dealer or a Chevy dealer. The media hotel is in an extremely upscale development where I am quite sure that one square yard of earth is worth more than my full acre in Alabama. It might even be more valuable than half of Hartselle. Who knows. This place is crazy rich. Fortunately they don’t charge for looking. Hope you enjoy looking at some of this stuff but please don’t throw things at me when I get back to Alabama!
- There are lots of palm trees. These lead up to a Nordstroms which is about like our Wal-Mart which, by the way, you simply can’t find in Newport Beach.
- This is sunset. Just about as nice as sunrise.
- This is a nice view of the outside courtyard at Muldoons where we ate. That’s right, January in Southern California and eating outside.
- Decatur Daily’s Alabama beat writer Michael Casagrande practices his post-championship celebration at Muldoons during the media party.
- My friend Mickey Welch, photographer with the Montgomery Advertiser, at Muldoons during the media party. Basically this was yet another chance to eat and drink for free courtesy of the BCS. Like I said, they really take care of us.
- This is the outside of the media hotel where we are having all the press conferences. These guys really are taking nice care of us. Simply amazing.
- Have I mentioned how very interesting press conferences are. Scintillating!
- This is evidence that I actually have been working out here. Deangelo McDaniel committed this visual atrocity.
- Version two of the sunrise at the Ramada! Nice palm trees. Hee, hee, hee!
- This was the sunrise outside the Ramada Inn where I am staying. Nice.

Hey Gary. I’m really enjoying seeing the visual documentation of what you’re doing this week. I’m sure you’re running around like crazy. Breathe some of it in though and enjoy it. It’s funny how most people think that traveling for work is 70% sightseeing and 30% work. Not quite that way is it? I always have people ask me, “Why doesn’t your wife travel with you?”
I absolutely love the shot of you that Deangelo took. The atrocity is that you’re still wearing long sleeves and khaki’s.
Enjoy the warmth. Twenty degrees would be a heat wave today in Green Bay. It’ll probably top 15 degrees or so. Rather warm. Saturday’s windchill was minus-25.
Keep up the good work my friend.

I saw a Maserati dealership today in Prague. It was in the basement of one of those really old, really Czech looking buildings. So neat.

Hi Gary,
I have been enjoying reading your blog entries on how things are run for a BCS championship game. I had no idea that press was limited to such short time frames. A recent article talked about how the coach was so protective of the players in not wanting them getting distracted by the media attention.
Back here, the highlight of my day was photographing a frozen fountain in Frazer’s church courtyard.
Sincerely,

Good you are having a great time. Your real workout will come Thursday night. No pressure for you, but remember your comments about shooting football….if one position or location does not seems to work, move around.
