Seven Ways To Get Happy And Stay Happy!

1) Work For Yourself. When you are happy with your own work, others will like it too.

When you get frustrated, you really have two choices. Complain or do something about it. Doing something about it means making your own assignments. This photo was from a self-assigned story about natural childbirth using a midwife. My wife happened to have a friend who is a midwife and she agreed to let me do a story. The mom and dad were very special folks as well and let me in on the entire labor and delivery process. It was a very cool story and it really got me back on track visually. Many times you go to work to find assignments that just don’t appeal to you. We do things that I really don’t like; sometimes, a bunch of things we really don’t like. Try explaining to a guy working in a factory that you don’t like your assignments. He’ll laugh at you and tell you something like, “Are you crazy? You get paid to shoot pictures. How bad can it be?” Everyone who shoots for a living knows that it can get crazy at times. Bottom line, the factory guy is right. No matter how bad your assignments are, you still got paid to shoot pictures. Now, take matters into your own hands and initiate assignments. If you can’t be happy with your own assignments, what can you be happy with? Talk to people. Find out what is going on in your community and, duh!, read your own newspaper. Then, go have some fun and tell a few stories.
